*Smiling* When I was much younger, I used to be very
careless with my school stuffs especially my pen and books but not any more, If
my dad buys me a pen within the space of three days I will misplace it. ya, it
was that bad. If he should ask to see the things he bought for me I will just
tell him in Igbo "ofu nwa we re ya"
meaning someone took it. Ha! popsy go hala for me weller! He did repeat calling
me "ofu-nwa ofu-nwa" everyday
"ofu-nwa ofu-nwa" when will ofu-nwa stop taking your things?
An incident happened when I was in Junior secondary 2,
then
I've mastered the act of writing the unique found in every pen at the back of
my book or cramming it, that will be my proof in case someone else claims
he/she owns the pen. How many of us did that? *Winkz* See them! so we are much!
that's by the way. It happened that a friend of mine took my pen during break
without my knowledge and refuse to give it back to me when I saw her with it
claiming it was hers. Though the ink of the pen was not much I was bent on
taking back what is mine. We kept on arguing till our class teacher came to
class, each of us related what happened, according to her she said her elder
brother in Junior secondary 3 gave it to her. Our class teacher dip her hand in
her bag and gave me a new pen, I refused to accept it, I asked her to give the
new pen to the other girl while she gives me the one with an almost empty ink.
Hahaha! My class teacher was like Aaaa.... ki le le yi (what is this in
yoruba?) She told Fatima, "come and show me that your elder brother that
gave you the pen" Lo and behold, her brother said he never gave her any
pen. Wo! Fatima received the knock of her life from our class mistress before
handing the pen to her. That my class teacher can knock for Africa! My class
teacher gave me a peck on the fore-head before giving me my pen. This singular
action added a plus to me till I graduated, even while in SS3 something came up
and this were her words to me "Stella, I take you by your words, don't
fail me."
Little things count, little things matter, most things we
take for granted as nothing is actually something. As little as I was I
insisted on the almost empty pen which was nothing but this was what earned me
her trust.
Awww....buh I laughed tho'...hehe.....I mean...it is just a pen buh this story kinda reminds me of Solomon in the bible...It was really your pen (before I even got to the brother part)....buh you know, I think I lost all my pens and pencils until I was in senior high school..I literally needed a pen every new week...lol....Hows Ella doing this lovely day...?
